This program will be in Chinese.

The “Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education” (“the Standards”), published by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (“the Center”), under the Chinese Ministry of Education, has gained global recognition since 2021. The Standards, aligned with the HSK Chinese proficiency test, have been widely welcomed as a valuable resource and tool for teachers of Chinese as a second language worldwide.

Join us for a one-day training, led by experts from the Center, offering an in-depth overview of the Standards, in comparison with the Standards with the “World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages” by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL Standards), providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the measurable criteria specific to the Chinese language, including syllables, characters, vocabularies, and grammar.

This training will focus on instructional design and teaching resources to showcase the connection between the Standards and its implementation in teaching Chinese as a second language in classrooms in the U.S.

All in-service Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges in the U.S. are welcome to attend.

6 hours of CTLE credits are offered for New York State teachers attending this program. PDP certificates are available to NECLTA members upon request.
